Golf: Vikki Laing top of the Scots in Alicante

Musselburgh golfer Vikki Laing finished fifth in the Costa Blanca Ladies Open last week, making her the top Scottish player at the event.

Laing came joint fifth on 230 after a closing score of 76, overtaking fellow Scot Heather McRae who crashed to ninth place on the final round after leading the pack.

The Costa Blanca competition, in Alicante, won by Spain’s Mireia Prat, was the penultimate round of the Ladies European Tour Access Series (LETAS). The final three-day event, which began on Thursday, is the Mineks Ladies Classic in Belek, Turkey.
